Saman Ghoddos will leave Brentford when his contract expires this summer.
The club confirms this.
– We should not write off the fact that we will see him in the future, says sporting director Phil Giles to the club’s website.
After last year’s Premier League season, Saman Ghoddos left Brentford.
The 30-year-old then trained with Malmö FF, and admitted a couple of months ago in an interview with Swedish Media that he was close to signing for sky blue before renewing with Brentford.
– It was quite close, actually. Then Brentford came at the last second. There were other options as well and MFF was one of them. It was really interesting for me and the family but I ended up going back to the Premier League and Brentford.
Are you staying there?
– I have a contract until this summer. So we’ll see what happens, Ghoddos replied with a smile.
Now it’s summer – and news about Ghoddo’s future has arrived.
On Sunday, Brentford announced that Ghoddos is one of five players who will leave the club when the contract expires this summer.
– Saman is one of the friendliest guys I’ve ever met. He is always positive and contributes enormously on the dice, and around the squad every day. It was an easy decision to sign him back last summer. He will always be welcome, says Brentford’s sporting director Phil Giles and concludes:
– Of course, we should not write off the fact that we will see him return in the future.
In addition to Ghoddos, Brentford are releasing Shandon Baptiste and Charlie Goode, with the loans of Neal Maupay and Sergio Reguilón expiring. They return to Everton and Tottenham respectively.
In total, Ghoddos has been credited with six goals and eight assists in 107 appearances for Brentford. This season, it has become a goal in 19 appearances.
