In January, left-back Alvaro Fernández, 21, went from Manchester United to Benfica on loan.
The loan extends until this summer, but the transfer can be made permanent via a purchase option included in the agreement. An option that the Portuguese giant will activate, according to reports.
The Athletic states that Benfica will most likely buy the 21-year-old this summer. The option is for six million euros (around SEK 70 million) in guaranteed sum plus three million euros (around SEK 35 million) in potential bonuses.
In total, the deal could therefore be worth SEK 105 million in the end. And if nothing unforeseen happens, the transition will be over, writes the same site.
Manchester United have Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia available in the left-back position in their squad. However, both players have had major injury problems in the last year and barely played this season.
Fernández is noted for one goal in 13 games for Benfica so far.
