Joy was born to Anthony and Georgia Taylor. She has 2 brothers, Jason Taylor, an ex-NFL defensive end and outside linebacker who represented the Miami Dolphins, and Noah Taylor.

Joy Taylor started her career as a media personality in Miami while attending Barry University. She was employed by 790 AM The Ticket in Miami, where she worked for three years as an executive producer.
