Lautaro Martínez’s Four Goals Propel Inter Milan to Victory

Inter Milan bounced back in Serie A with an impressive 4-0 win over Salernitana, thanks to a four-goal masterclass from Lautaro Martínez. The victory at the Stadio Arechi marked Inter’s seventh win in their last eight away matches, reaffirming their title ambitions.

After suffering their first defeat of the season against Sassuolo in their previous outing, Inter were determined to regain their winning momentum. However, Salernitana, despite their winless record in Serie A, proved to be a resilient opponent in the first half.

The visitors started strong, with Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries threatening the Salernitana defense. But the home side’s goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, stood firm and denied Inter any breakthrough. As the half progressed, Salernitana gained confidence, with Jovane Cabral and Grigoris Kastanos causing trouble for Inter’s defense.

The second half began with both teams struggling to break the deadlock. It took a moment of brilliance from substitute Lautaro Martínez to open the scoring. Thuram’s precise cross found Martínez, who expertly finished to give Inter the lead.

Inter’s defensive solidity was on display once again, with Salernitana’s Mateusz Łęgowski’s disallowed goal due to an offside position. Midway through the second half, Kristjan Asllani came close to extending Inter’s lead but hit the woodwork with a curling free-kick.

Martínez sealed the victory for Inter with two more goals. First, he converted a penalty after Thuram was fouled in the box. Then, he completed his hat-trick by calmly finishing Carlos Augusto’s pass. It was a remarkable performance from Martínez, who demonstrated his clinical finishing and importance to the team.

Inter’s win propels them back to the top of Serie A, while Salernitana’s struggles continue as they remain in the relegation zone. They could even drop to last place if Cagliari defeat Fiorentina in their upcoming match.
