Parma back in Serie A

A classic club returns to the fine room.

1-1 against Bari means that Parma is back in Serie A.

In the 2020/2021 season, Parma dropped out of Serie A after finishing last. Since then, they have finished twelfth and fourth in Serie B.

Now the classic club is back in the highest league. Away against bottom team Bari, it was 1-1 and the point was enough to secure promotion.

Ange-Yoan Bonny gave the visitors the lead at the start of the second half. Valerio Di Cesare equalized shortly afterwards, but 1-1 was enough.

36 rounds have been played and Parma tops the series three points ahead of second-placed Como, who in turn have four points down on third-placed Venezia.

Parma have never won Serie A, but boast two golds in the UEFA Cup, one in the European Super Cup and one in the Cup Winners’ Cup.

In addition, they have won the Coppa Italia three times and the Italian Super Cup once. Next season will be the club’s 28th in the highest league.

Together with Juventus, Milan, Inter, Roma, Fiorentina and Lazio, Parma belongs to the “seven sisters” of Italian football.

The squad includes former Malmö FF striker Antonio Colak, who has scored three goals in 21 league games this season.
