Possible turn around Cajuste’s future in Napoli
Jens Cajuste will remain in Naples, writes Corriere dello Sport.
According to the paper, Napoli wants to “protect its investment”.
The other week, La Gazzetta dello Sport stated that Jens Cajuste, who has not lived up to expectations at Napoli this year, is ready to “pack his bags if an offer arrives” this summer.
The Serie A club is said to want to redo its entire central midfield after this year’s fiasco season and the Swede is singled out as one of the players who can be sacrificed. There has also been talk of a possible loan for the 24-year-old, who, among other things, has been placed in Turkish Galatasaray.
But now comes a possible twist.
Corriere dello Sport has gone through Napoli’s squad and sorted out who is staying and who is leaving. According to the newspaper, the club plans to keep Cajuste next season.
The reason? Money has been invested in the midfielder. Napoli therefore wants to give Cajuste a chance to get more minutes next season, while a sale would already lower his value. Therefore, he is expected to remain in Naples beyond 2024.
The Swede was bought from Reims last year for SEK 140 million.
In total, it has been an assist in 31 games in the Napoli shirt for Cajuste. His contract runs until 2028.
