Russian fencers refused to participate in the Olympic Games

The European Fencing Confederation (EFC) announced the refusal of athletes from Russia to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris.

The athletes were supposed to go to a tournament in Differdange (Luxembourg) to qualify for the Olympic Games, but the Russians decided not to take part. At the same time, the reason for the refusal is unknown, since the confederation did not receive an official letter from the Russians, France Press reports.

Let us remind you that the IOC (International Olympic Committee) allowed athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in a neutral status. Athletes who support the SVO and have connections with the armed forces and security agencies of Russia and Belarus will not be able to attend the tournament. Representatives of team sports will also miss the Olympics.
